Learning & Engagement Officer

Thinktank (Birmingham Science Museum)

Permanent Contract

Salary £27,300pa


We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, organised, creative and has experience in delivering school and public programme sessions. You will be part of a team developing and delivering creative and inclusive engagement and museum learning activities. You will support Thinktank’s commitment to inspiring children and young people to engage with Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM). With a key focus on connecting with local communities and schools our officers deliver onsite, through outreach, and online, to engage communities, develop audiences and contribute to income generation.


The role requires a mandatory check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS check). Our Safeguarding Policy can be found here.


What we look for:

  • Experience of working with a range of audiences including young people, families with children and adults in similar environments.
  • Confident and outgoing, with excellent presentation skills and the ability to communicate to a wide variety of audiences.
  • A great team player and good timekeeper
  • Contribute to project working groups and develop activity plans for projects
  • Flexible to work weekends, evenings, and bank holidays

Interviews will be taking place on Tuesday 2nd or Wednesday 3rd May 2023 with Andrew Fowles (Learning and Access Manager) and Katherine Bosworth (Learning and Engagement Manager). In advance of the interview, you will receive a copy of the interview questions to prepare and you will have an opportunity to express any reasonable adjustments you might need.
