Phlebotomist
Working under the direction of the lead nurse and as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, the post holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture. In addition, the Phlebotomist will be expected to support the nursing team on an as required basis.
The following are the core responsibilities of the Phlebotomist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a. Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
b. Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
c. Maintaining accurate patient records on EMIS Web
d. The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples
e. Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
f. Maintaining an effective liaison with the laboratory staff at West Suffolk Hospital
g. Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters
The 10 hours will be 8am - 13pm Tuesday and Thursday. Holiday and Sickness cover will be required in addition.

Salary: £11.25 per hour
