Role Overview & Responsibilities

18 MONTHS

Born in Bradford is one of the largest longitudinal birth cohort studies in the world and is internationally-recognised for research into health and disease. Established by researchers at Born in Bradford in 2023, the Bradford Centre for Qualitative Research brings together our qualitative research from across a range of applied research programmes, that together aim to provide a healthier, fairer future for children and families in Bradford. We are looking for someone who shares our exciting vision to join us as part of our ground-breaking qualitative research centre within Bradford.

The postholder will be based at the Bradford Institute for Health Research (BIHR). The Research Fellow will work under the supervision of a qualitative senior research fellow and will be a key member of the Born in Bradford qualitative team. They will conduct key qualitative research and operational tasks across two qualitative research studies

An exploratory study to inform the development of a surgical shared decision making intervention. The research fellow will play a key role in capturing the perspectives of patients from underserved groups (economically disadvantaged, minority ethnic, older age) to maximise inclusivity of the intervention.

A co-evaluation of four case studies of community-delivered research into the built environment with children and young people from different seldom heard communities in Bradford. The research fellow will facilitate the co-evaluation to understand how co-production is working to inform ongoing processes for engaging communities in research.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and highly organised research fellow to come and work on projects whose findings will have a real impact on improving the health and wellbeing of families in Bradford and beyond. It offers a role that crosses academic and practice based public health and health services research.
