Role Overview & Responsibilities
The Emergency Department (ED) is a small-medium friendly department seeing approximately 64,000 adult and paediatric patients per year. The Junior Clinical Fellow post is fixed term for 6—12 months, a suitable start date can be agreed.
We have recently been given the go ahead to remain as a 24 hour department and the service it provides is under-going significant re-design. The COVID19 pandemic has allowed rapid changes within the department with the development of RED and AMBER zones. We have made significant changes to the front door pathways, allowing us to further improve hospital flow, enhance our footprint and keeping corridors in the ED clear so ambulances can safely offload. At the same time, we are also working to expand the size of the ED further to allow for an increased dedicated paediatric area.
The main duties of the role are:
We live by our core values:
We listen, learn and improve
We treat everyone with respect
We all work together as one team
We are a proud local employer; around 80% of our 15000 workforce live within our region, making our staff not only our lifeblood of our organisation but of the diverse communities that we serve.
The Junior Clinical Fellow rota is annualised and there is 30% non-clinical time built in. The shifts are 10 hours so there is plenty of time to ensure good work life balance. Annual leave and bank holidays are included in the annualisation. There is a good level of Consultant supervision and audit and research interests will be encouraged.
Time is allocated on the rota for induction, mandatory training and corporate induction and there are regular teaching sessions run face-to-face or via Teams.
