Role Overview & Responsibilities

CFD Aerodynamics Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled CFD Aerodynamics Engineer to join our team, ideally with 1-2 years experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the design and development of a variety of projects, ranging from bicycles, to HGVs to motorsport cars, through the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct CFD simulations and analysis to evaluate aerodynamic performance of various vehicles and products.
  • Collaborate with the design team to develop innovative aerodynamic solutions that improve vehicle and product performance and efficiency.
  • Interpret and present CFD results to the design team and management, highlighting key findings and recommendations for further improvements.
  • Work with the experimental testing team to ensure CFD results match experimental data, and vice versa.
  • Contribute to the development of simulation methodologies and tools to improve the accuracy and efficiency of CFD simulations.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest aerodynamic trends, technologies, and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong background in aerodynamics theory and fluid dynamics principles.
  • Ideally 1-2 years of experience in CFD aerodynamics, preferably in the motorsport industry. Although strong graduates with good practical CFD experience from University will also be considered.
  • Proficient in using CFD pre-processing and solving software (STAR-CCM+ is desired. ANSA, OpenFoam would be a bonus) and post-processing tools (EnSight is desired. ParaView would be a bonus).
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.) is desirable.
  • Programming skills (Python, Bash, PoweShell, Java, VBA) would be a bonus.
  • Experience using Linux operating systems would be a bonus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Passion for innovation and a desire to push the boundaries of aerodynamic design.
