Relief Events Assistant (Visit East Yorkshire Events Team)

The job itself

The Visit East Yorkshire Events Team are recruiting for enthusiastic and energetic casual events staff (Relief Events Assistants). The role is centred around supporting showcase tourism events such as The Beverley Festival of Christmas, Made in East Yorkshire Christmas Market, Bridlington Kite Festival, Race The Waves & European Open Beach Championships which take place across the year.

The main responsibilities will include working with the team with the hands on delivery of these events plus some back office administration duties as and when required.

You will be expected to work as part of the team and act on your own initiative in a fast paced environment. Often working to meet tight deadlines, you will need to be organised and punctual. Excellent customer service skills will be required as you will be liaising with event contractors, local residents and visitors.

This is a casual position which can include working unsociable hours including evenings and weekends at outdoor and indoor venues. The work is physically demanding particularly at the outdoor venues when you will be ‘on your feet’ for the majority of the time. There is a degree of manual handling during the set up and breakdown of events. You must be flexible with your availability to work on one or more of the highlighted events with a requirement to attend pre event briefings.

The role will be based in County Hall Beverley, but the post holder will be required to attend events across the East Riding of Yorkshire area.
