Role Overview & Responsibilities

Brief overview

We are looking for Tower Hamlets borough residents who are interested in completing a Level 3 Plumbing & Domestic Heating Technician Apprenticeship. The successful candidate will spend 48 months working as a Plumbing Apprentice as part of the CITB Shared Apprenticeship Scheme. Employed by Evolve Apprentices while earning a wage, gaining work experience, and a qualification.

Apprenticeship summary

· Hourly wage

£5.28 to £11.95 (National Minimum Wage for their age) or £11.95 (London Living Wage). This is subject to the Construction sites.

Statutory Sick and Holiday Pay + Bank Holiday Pay, automatic enrolment into the NEST Pension Scheme, Apprenticeship Oyster Card available for first-year travel discounts, NUS Discount Cards, and course costs covered by Evolve.

· Working week

Monday-Friday, weekends may be an option. Minimum of 35 hours per week but the potential for more. Approx. 8 am-5 pm but hours will be confirmed by the contractor after successfully passing the Stage 1 & 2 Interviews.

What will the apprentice be doing?

Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technicians plan, select, install, service, commission and maintain all aspects of plumbing and heating systems inside and outside of a project. They are at the forefront of installing new and exciting environmental technologies like heat pumps, solar thermal systems, biomass boilers, and water recycling systems.

  • Assist with unloading and moving of deliveries/systems on site
  • Keep site tidy and safe in line with company health and safety policy
  • Assisting with the installation of fixtures, pipes, sinks, toilets, showers/baths, and drainage
  • Assisting with the installation and decommissioning of radiators, boilers, and other heating systems such as underfloor

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The qualification you would be working for is the Level 3 Plumbing & Domestic Heating (Standard) where we will be looking to partner with MIT Skills to provide the training.

This training will mainly be through remote learning with paid study time as needed up to 7 hours/1 days per week. You are expected to travel when necessary though most assessments will be done on-site. You will be responsible for managing/arranging with your line manager.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Upon completion of this apprenticeship, you can work as a qualified Junior Plumber where, with more experience, you can look to progress into a senior position, site/contracts/project management, self-employment, or plumbing & heating business owner.

You will be eligible for the Skilled Worker (Blue) CSCS Card after the level 3 qualification
