i2L Research Ltd are a leading provider of scientific services and technical support to the Pest control industry. Owing to the continued growth of our organisation, we are excited to advertise for the position of a Laboratory Technician to join our team in Cardiff.
The role will involve
The successful applicant will join as a Laboratory Technician, providing key support to our team of Scientists. It is expected that the Laboratory Technician will make a significant contribution to the running of trials to evaluate the efficacy of public health and agrochemical pest control products.
The ideal candidate will be a graduate in biology or related field or somebody with a keen interest to pursue a career in insect research. This position does not allow for remote working.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the set up and running of biological trials
- Maintenance and calibration of Laboratory instruments
- Maintenance of live insect cultures for use in our trials
- Preparation of study materials, equipment and test treatments
- Maintaining good study records
- Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or study protocols
- Operating within GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)
- Following Health and Safety requirements at all times
- Cleaning of laboratory areas and general housekeeping
Skills required
- A degree in a relevant scientific field Biology, Life sciences (or related field) or work-gained experience
- A good level of computer literacy is expected (Excel, MS packages)
- Previous experience in insect research or entomology is desirable, however, is not essential as this is an entry level position and all training will be provided.
- Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to self-manage.
- UK driving license is preferred but not essential

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week
Duration: Permanent, subject to a 3-month Probation period
