Role Overview & Responsibilities
The Grantham Institute are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Education Programmes Manager, who is passionate about delivering education and training to students in the field of climate science!
The job offers an exciting opportunity to work in a professional, lively and friendly team. Your main role will be to lead the PhD training programme, the Science and Solutions for a Changing Planet Doctoral Training Partnership, with a current cohort of 150 students. You will be responsible for managing the programme, with oversight over the entire student pipeline from admissions to becoming alumni and assuring best practice and excellent experience for the students.
The post holder will also contribute to the Institute’s other education programmes, which includes Masters courses, undergraduate modules and online learning.
Duties and responsibilities
In the role, you will:
- Run the delivery of the SSCP DTP programme, including recruitment and student training.
- Manage the organisation of all relevant programme management boards and committees.
- Monitor student and stakeholder feedback and adapt programmes in response to these.
- Be responsible for the management of the DTP budgets (£9m) and accounts, to ensure compliance with sponsors’ terms and conditions and to monitor budget expenditure.
- Financial planning and forecasting, including budget allocation for all aspects of the portfolio.
- Oversee all DTP events, including induction week, student residential trips, SSCP DTP conference, and seminar series.
- Prepare relevant material for the promotion and delivery of the education programmes, including student handbooks, newsletters, monitoring forms and annual reviews
Essential requirements
- Significant experience in higher education administration.
- Experience of project delivery, project management and relationship management, coordinating internal activities to meet delivery expectations of internal and external clients.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to plan ahead, set priorities (both own and other staff) and work to deadlines to handle a high volume and varied workload.
- Strong financial and budgetary management experience, including planning, forecasting and monitoring.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the skill to connect with staff at all levels.
- Ability to work proactively, identify potential problems and implement innovative solutions.
Further information
This role is full-time, fixed term position for two years, with the possibility of extension.

The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework until early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
