Area Shift Leader - Warehouse

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an Area Shift Leader - Warehouse to join our Manufacturing plant based in Thirsk, North Yorkshire.

• £15.70 per hour (including shift allowance)
• 48 hours per week
• Monday to Thursday days and nights rotation

Our kitchens in Thirsk and Kinmel produce dry, wet, and baked foods which are enjoyed by dogs and cats all over the world.

The Role

To lead and take overall day to day responsibility for a shift team of circa 20 Warehouse colleagues. To ensure that all team members are compliant to our ways of working and are delivering a consistent service to IPN customers and key stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:

• Continuously monitor all operational processes and the overall working environment to ensure that all activities comply with food safety standards
• Review and update rotas to ensure that colleague availability and alignment fits with the requirements of the department and training operational needs
• Promote a H&S culture within the department, ensuring compliance with all elements of the H&S procedures and management system to promote a safe working environment
• Ensure training documents are fit for purpose. Work with the training officer and Warehouse Area Manager to plan in colleague training and support with delivery of on the floor training sessions
• Own continuous improvement actions and workstreams that are in line with the departmental masterplans
• Provide Leadership and direction to the team to ensure colleagues are engagement and that IPN people management responsibilities are adhered to
• Monitoring operational performance to ensure that delivery meets agreed customer and IPN standards
• Ensure compliance to stock management policies and regular cycle checking activities.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

• Experience in a same or similar role across Manufacturing and or FMCG
• Effective math skills and effective written and spoken English
• Understand how budgets operate
• Understand LEAN to identify and implement business improvement programmes
• Experience of People Management
• Food Safety Training Level 1 Highfields - desirable
• H&S Level 2 Highfields - desirable
