John Mackirdy Haulage are looking to recruit an experienced class 1 driver to join their team on Bute
About
We are a family run haulage company established in 1870, specialising in the transport of goods to and from the Isle of Bute. We are one of the most diverse firms in the country providing a variety of services including general, temperature controlled, tanker, bulk blower, flat and timber haulage, as well as storage and warehousing.
We were awarded 'Scotland's most Innovative Haulier 2011' and 'Scottish Haulage Company of the Year 2020' in our 150th year. We have recently gained some new contracts and expect considerable growth in the coming months and years.
Role Profile
- We are looking for an experienced class 1 driver.
- The job will entail pulling a variety of trailers (Flats, bulk blowers, fridges, curtain siders, tanks).
- Our business is very diverse and applicants with experience operating a variety of combinations will be looked upon favourably.
- Drivers should be prepared to do nights away from home.
- Weekends are not required, but a willingness to work weekends is a plus.

What we expect from our drivers:
- Responsible for the safe, timely movement and delivery of our customers’ products.
- Drivers should demonstrate a can-do, positive attitude.
- Adhering to safe working practices to ensure the safety of yourself, the load and others at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service at all times and to take ownership of customer issues on delivery.
- Be aware of the vehicle defects and bring to the attention of Transport Office/ workshop as necessary.
- Attend essential training to carry out the Driver role.
- Keeping your truck clean at all times
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £38,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
