Teaching Assistant

Kumon Math & English Centre, Corstorphine, Edinburgh is seeking to fill the position of MATHS TEACHING ASSISTANTS with proficiency in Higher Maths.

Fixed 11 hour per week shift every Tuesday (2:30 pm to 8pm), and Saturday (9am to 2pm). We remain open through summer and autumn vacation months of June, July, August & October. We close once a year during December holidays for a 2-week period. We expect our assistants to work throughout the calendar year, and preference is given to candidates who wish to work with us on long-term basis. Candidates should be physically able to perform light cleaning duties as assigned, including sanitising & waste disposal.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

-Working with Maths students. Guiding them as per guidelines, monitoring & reporting to head instructor.

- Grade and record all class work and homework.

- Assist students through their assigned work (classwork and corrections)

- Work with younger children (ages 3 yrs +)

- Maintain a neat and professional work area.

- Wear Smart Casual / Formal work attire and work ethics.

- Assist with cleaning and organising the Centre

REQUIREMENTS:

- Excellent Math and Reading skills (A level); we particularly welcome applicants with previous Kumon work experience or Kumon student experience.

- **A written assessment is part of the screening process**

- **As part of the employment process, a PVG clearance will be required for applicants 18 years old or older.**

OTHERS:

- No teaching experience is necessary. However, previous work experience in a Kumon Centre or teaching experience in school/university is an asset. Previous Kumon program completer is a big plus.

- Experience in working with children will also be considered as an asset.
