Newsome Ltd is seeking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer / Draughtman to work across many specialised areas of the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning industry.

Over the last 50 years Newsome Ltd has gained a strong reputation within the industry and forged strong long-term relationships with many blue-chip clients, particularly within the food and confectionery markets, consequently we are now looking to further expand the department to meet the requirements of these clients and are offering an exciting opportunity to join our enthusiastic and professional contracting team.

Key Requirements;

• 3D Design - track record of delivering designs on time and in full
• Experience with Inventor & AutoCAD
• HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Attention to Detail
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Effective time management
• Sheet metal / steelwork design and fabrication
• Awareness of quality issues
• Team player
• Works flexibly in line with business needs

Key Responsibilities;

• Ensure mechanical design meets essential company and statutory design standards
• Coordinate the development and delivery of the mechanical engineering design and documentation to meet the agreed project programme
• Ensure all engineering risks are shared with and understood by the Project Manager
• Provide appropriate mechanical engineering support for fabrication, technical assembly, installation, and commissioning
• Design in the most cost-effective way while still maintaining quality
• Ensure all GA and fabrication drawings are checked prior to issue
• Produce the mechanical GA drawings and detailed drawings to facilitate fabrication and technical assembly, together with other key mechanical documentation such as parts lists and flat pack details
• Liaise with Project Managers to ensure their input and support achieves a robust design
• Provide mechanical design engineering input to the various project and design review meetings such as DQ’s and fabrication handovers
• Promote standardisation philosophy within designs, maximising efficiency and minimising potential risks

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £33,000.00-£43,000.00 per year
