Lathe Machine Operator

The Role – Machinist / Centre Lathe Turner

As a Machinist / Centre Lathe Turner, you’ll be able to turn your hand to working on conventional Centre Lathes. Working as part of a dynamic, hands-on team within a busy environment, you will work on a wide range of projects for customers in a variety of industries, working with different materials from stainless steel to plastic and aluminum. Your duties will include, although not be limited to:

Requirements:

• Operating Centre Lathes
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Working to tight tolerances
• Highlighting and communicating issues that may arise
• Ensuring that health, safety and quality standards are complied with

Experience:

• Solid experience as a Turner gained within a commercial engineering workshop
• Ability to screw cut internal and external threads and turn and mill where necessary
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Ability to work as part of a dynamic, hands on team
• Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines

• Monday-Thursday 0730-1530 (4 day week)

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

• Centre Lathe Turner: 1 year (required)
• Machining: 1 year (preferred)
