Highways Ganger

We are looking to recruit Highways Ganger’s to join Origin Infrastructure Services Limited.

Within this role you will have a good general understanding of working on high speed roads and civils works.

You will need to work as part of a team and express excellent communication skills.

As a Highways Ganger you must be able to communicate instruction to team members when carrying out work activities whilst complying with site rules and Origin’s Health and Safety policies.

We are seeking Highway Gangers who are driven, hardworking, flexible, reliable and most importantly can identify safe/unsafe working conditions.

You will be required to relay information given by the supervisor to others.

As a Highways Ganger it is essential you have the ability to work both nights /days nationally.

This role does carry authority to immediately stop any unsafe practices on-site until a safe alternative is agreed with the Ganger, Supervisor and their Contracts Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities – not limited to;

· Receiving Start of Shift Briefing

· Ensuring work area is ready for construction

· Ensuring Team members are fit/ready for work

· Carrying out underground service surveys (CAT & GENNY)

· Excavation works

· Drainage all depths

· Ducting/Cabinet sites

· Cabling

· Concreting

· Step building

· Chamber construction

· Kerbing/ Edging works

· Road construction works

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

· CSCS Operative Card

· CPCS 360

· Roller & Dumper cards / trained (Preferred)

· Experience of leading in a team within a highway’s environment

· Multi skilled in aspects of civils works

· Ability to tow trailers

· NRSWA Accreditation (Preferred)

· Ability to read plans and drawings

· Safe excavation techniques

· Complete installation of works to the correct detail and specifications

Person Specification

· Ability to work as part of a team

· An understanding of relevant Health & Safety legislation

· Full clean driving licence

Transport and PPE are all provided, a full site induction will be carried out upon start.

As part of the role you will be required to work throughout the UK, with a variation of day works and night works. You may be required to lodge on a week by week basis dependant on the work location.

Please note pre-employment D&A testing may be required.
