Gardener / Maintenance Assistant

To assist in the provision of a high standard of Health and Safety, grounds and premises maintenance. A genuine interest in in working within a caring environment for vulnerable elderly people. The ability to communicate at all levels. A commitment to working as a team player. Must have gardening experience and be willing to travel. Travel to be discussed at interview and this role will be to cover the Gardening of the grounds within all 6 Prestige Care Homes Stockton, Middlesbrough, Darlington and Redcar.

Purpose of position:

Support the Care Centres by maintaining all external areas of the properties.

Maintain a high standard of work with a professional aptitude and care with consideration of residents at all times.

Support the Maintenance Team at various times if and when required (throughout the year) with any small repairs internally and externally.

Main responsibilities and duties

· Mow grass areas

· Carry out a weeding programme throughout the year.

· Keep all bushes, plants in good order and promote growth.

· Make sure all walkways are free of obstructions including, moss, weeds, uneven paving etc.

· Makes general repairs / Prepare, paint, varnish any outbuildings making sure they are in good order and suitable for residents, visitors and staff use if required.

· Keep all equipment in good order and safely stored.

· Use all safety equipment provided at all times.

· Complete any additional or Mandatory training as and when required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £10.42 per hour
