We are recruiting for an R&D Scientist to join our MosaiQ Assay Development team based at our ARC site near Penicuik, EH26 0BF. This role is a full time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week. Monday-Friday.
The role of our R&D Scientists involves assisting in the planning, organisation and execution of experimental studies, in relation to our MosaiQ programme. Our R&D Scientists record, analyse and reach valid conclusions for complex investigations in consultation with our R&D Leadership teams enabling the completion of projects to the highest possible standard.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The main responsibilities will include:
- Assist in the planning of development studies and subsequently organise and undertake work relating to specific development projects.
- Design experiments, develop assays, identify suitable biological materials and take responsibility to deliver against timelines.
- Analyse and interpret complex data produced in studies and write progress reports including conclusions and proposed actions.
- Assist the Department in general organisation and administration of laboratory facilities. Documentation and audits to ensure departmental compliance with health and safety, GMP/GLP standards.
- Participate in project teams for interdisciplinary/interdepartmental/collaborative projects to ensure projects progress efficiently and effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & BEHAVIOURS REQUIRED
- Science Degree is essential.
- At least one year’s industry experience in a GXP environment.
- Experience of working in a dynamic and fast paced environment is essential.
- Allergy development / Immunoassay / ELISA experience / clinical diagnostics experience (desired).
- Experience in downstream processing of proteins (desired).
- Experience and ability in interpreting, presenting and handling complex data.
- Flexible approach to work required with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Good interpersonal skills, with strong teamwork, collaboration and communication skills.
- A “can-do” attitude, with an enthusiasm and passion to work in Life Sciences.
