Role Overview & Responsibilities
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist, with a passion for rehabilitation, to join our Integrated Intermediate care rehabilitation team, as we seek to expand our service. Our team works across 2 sites at Rowley Regis Hospital and Leasowes, Smethwick.

You will be part of a multi-professional team working collaboratively with others to deliver person-centred, coordinated care from the point of admission onto the intermediate care unit, to discharge. You will work with patients with a variety of conditions including trauma and orthopaedic patients, neurological impairment (stroke, MS, Parkinson’s, spinal injuries), frailty and those with cognitive deficits, management of long term conditions including cardiac and respiratory conditions.
We offer inhouse leadership development courses in order for continued professional development. There is also opportunity for learning alongside Band 6 Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy colleagues and an Occupational Therapy Development group that meet on a regular basis. - completing holistic assessments and treatment plans for patients with a variety of health conditions and backgrounds.
- Implementing individualised rehabilitation and exercise programmes.
- Completing specialist Occupational Therapy assessments (cognitive assessments and rehab planning, moving and handling assessments and plans, specialist equipment provision)
- The challenge of improving the physical and functional abilities of someone suffering with a long term condition such as parkinsons or COPD
- Co-ordination of therapy team on a daily basis to ensure the caseload across the wards is delegated and completed appropriately
- Contributing to embedding a Discharge to Assess model
- Champion the role of Occupational Therapy within the department, trust and local area.
- Supervising junior staff and assistants in their development and progression within their roles.
- Service development and teaching opportunities within the established teaching programme and Quality Improvement initiatives.
