Role Overview & Responsibilities

In this role you will be developing and introducing new manufacturing processes, controls and procedures to production areas supporting new customer programmes coming through the business.

Working closely with Quality, Procurement and Operations teams you will be ensuring New Product Introduction runs smoothly, whilst defining and supporting continuous improvement programmes on existing product.

You must be self-motivated individual capable of consistently producing a high standard of work and naturally look to develop and improve yourself, others around you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities for improvement and where applicable produce robust justification for Capital Expenditure managing the project from Scope of Supply to install and commissioning.
  • Use appropriate Risk Management & Engineering tools such as FMEA & Control Plans to assist in selection of manufacturing processes and robust New Product Introduction.
  • Support SST Quality, Procurement and Operations teams in the efficient manufacture of existing product through Root Cause Investigation, Continuous Improvement, Cycle Time Analysis, and production cell metrics & KPI’s.
  • Provide input and contribute heavily to planning activity with Programmes Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Manufacturing Development Manager & Project Manager ensuring strong linkage and flow between current activity and future plans.
  • Support other areas of the business through collaboration with Lead Engineers providing Process and Technical expertise as required.
  • Assist in the development and integration of improved SST Business Systems through implementation in Manufacturing and Engineering areas.

Personal:

  • Either Apprentice or Degree Level education in Engineering or Manufacturing
  • Experience in an engineering manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Honest, open and approachable with clear two-way communication skills.
  • Methodical problem solver with high attention to detail
  • Technical, hands-on approach with a good understanding of commercial implications and requirements of a high quality & regulatory manufacturing.
  • Positive pro-active attitude willing to learn new skills & step outside of regular role to support business needs.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under own initiative.
  • PC Literate with MS Office applications. Ability to use or quickly learn SolidWorks CAD & EPDM, SAP Business One, and Adept.
