GRP Laminator / GRP Finisher

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team at Sutton Workboats we are recruiting and experienced marine hand lay-up laminator / boat builder to join our team in Ramsgate Kent.

We are a well establish boatbuilding firm for the past 25 years building GRP commercial catamarans from 7m to 14m.

The position is on self employed bases ( subject to successful trial) with a competitive hourly rate after 6 months we would look to employ full time, we would like a hard working team player who is well organized and able to problem solve with a positive work attitude.

Hours are a minimum of 40 hours week, with the opportunities for over time working. The successful candidate will be primarily working on the production of the hull and deck then move on to fitting out of the vessel.

Duties -

Mould preparation

The production of hulls and components, and fitting out of vessels

Minimum requirements

Experience and full knowledge and use of polyester, iso and vinylester resin, gelcoats, bonding paste, flowcoats, chop coat mat and combination mat.

Experience of hand lay up essential

Use of core materials nidaplast foam core

Use and understanding of drawings and patterns

Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a small team or as an individual

Maturity and ability to work quickly and to a high standard, often unsupervised.

Min of 2 years experience in the marine industry
