JOB DESCRIPTION – Enabler

LOCATION: | Choppington Area
JOB PURPOSE: | We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed enabler to provide 2:1 close supervision for a 12-year-old young boy.

We are looking to recruit a Team of workers to support a young boy who has a diagnosis of Autism, Learning Disability and ADHD
The young boy is a happy child who loves animals, a range of cartoons including Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and being active. He smiles a lot although he can be loud when he is distressed. He sensory seeks and may head bang into people when distressed. He can become distressed when he finally realises, he is hungry, thirsty or cold but may not realise this and refuse food and drink until he is very hungry or thirsty. Waiting can cause him to become distressed. He has weighted items and chew noodles to help provide feedback to keep him regulated. Changes to routine can distress him
His favourite activities are visiting places such as the Tim Lamb centre, Plessy Woods, soft play, beaches, walks where he can feed the ducks, and swimming. He likes going out in his chair, messy play but usually wants his hands cleaned fairly quickly after the messy play. He also enjoys trips to McDonalds. He enjoys going into shops to buy one item (this is often a packet of noodles or sweets).
Main Duties
- To support 2-1 for 4 hours a week one out of four weeks term time, as
well as some additional hours supporting staff over some school holidays,
- Time out to be used to access age-appropriate activities away from the home.
- Support with medication
- To build a secure relationship with the young boy and his family
- To encourage interactions appropriate to the activities being accessed
- To support and prompt the young boy with toileting needs/ hygiene.
Hours
Please discuss the remaining hours available with employer
1x 4 hours a week, one out of four weeks term time only (39 Weeks).
1x 5 hrs per week during the Easter, summer, and Xmas holidays (10 weeks)

- Be punctual and reliable.
- Be flexible.
- Have a happy positive caring nature.
- Have an outgoing personality.
Rates of pay
£11.91 per hour and 5.6 weeks holiday (pro rata)
Out of pocket expenses will be met by the Employer. This post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and references (Cost to be met by Employer). Car driver is essential and must have Business Insurance.
