Sustainability Projects Officer
Role Overview & Responsibilities
Are you looking to move your flair for projects and data to supporting action on climate change and social justice? Here at the University of Brighton our institutional sustainability agenda is creating societal-scale change, by addressing the global challenges at the root of the climate and ecological emergency. To help us track progress, and to support key areas of work, we have created a new sustainability projects officer role based within the sustainability team.
Helping the university to monitor environmental performance through our environmental management system, you will also plan and deliver practical waste minimisation and other projects. These include collaborative work with academic and professional service colleagues on Global Challenges – the wider institutional agenda to support the delivery of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
We welcome applicants with relevant transferrable skills and experience from any working background, not necessarily from applicants that are already established sustainability practitioners. We are seeking candidates with numerical and organisational skills to accurately compile, record and analyse data, and manage documented processes.
This is also an outward-facing role so you will be expected to regularly work with groups of staff and students and plan occasional events. Through the variety of work offered, the intention of this role is to give the successful candidate an opportunity to experience and develop wide-ranging subject area and professional development.
This is a permanent, full time 37-hour role, based at our offices at our Moulsecoomb campus in Brighton. Our Agile Working Policy can provide the flexibility to work at other locations, including at home for up to three days each week. Our site is also well served by public transport. The university welcomes and will consider applications from those seeking to job-share.
The start date for this role will be from 1st of August onward.
