Role Overview & Responsibilities

We are looking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher to join a clinical research group working on the neurobiology of psychotic disorders, and using this knowledge to develop new treatments. You will report to Dr Robert McCutcheon. The post is full-time and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital, Oxford.
The post is for a fixed term (funded for 12 months) with the possibility of extension.
Whilst the role is a Grade 7 position, we would be willing consider candidates with potential but less experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at Grade 6 (£30,502-£36,386) with the responsibilities adjusted accordingly. This would be discussed with applicants at interview/appointment where appropriate). Responsibilities/selection criteria marked * would be required for Grade 7 role.
You will be involved in the set up and running of experimental medicine studies, testing the effects of novel medications in individuals with psychotic disorders. You will be able to contribute to a range of projects, including analysing the effects of interventions on neuroimaging measures and cognitive outcome, the development of clinical services, the conducting of meta-analyses and the analysis of pre-acquired clinical data.
You will have or be close to the completion of a MSc, PhD/DPhil* or medical degree* in a relevant subject, along with experience of working with individuals with psychotic disorders. You will be able to take initiative to plan and organise complex activities and programmes and manage your own academic research and associated activities, you will have previous experience of contributing to publications/presentations. Experience in programming (python, matlab, and R) would be desirable as would experience in acquiring and analysing neuroimaging data.
